Our first digital iteration is a version of Demons Land told through Instagram, allowing us to discover new forms and new audiences for the work. We exploit the modular shapes of the platform, working at once horizontally and vertically, so as to tell our story simultaneously in different ways. We intersperse graphic quotations, details from paintings, and micro-scenes from the film, each page counterpointed underneath by poetic meditations or historical provocations. Followers can experience the story serially, in the successive order of its appearance; equally, they can jump and return as they wish, constructing their own unique sequence.
The Instabook form expresses one of the foundational tenets of Demons Land: history is a tale of recursion and repetition; if it happened in the past, it will happen again.
